About Wombats Worms

Our journey began in the fall of 2023 when we decided to grow a veggie garden for the summer of 2024. We quickly realized the need for red wiggler worms to enhance the soil. After acquiring our first worms from a friend, we began breeding them to produce cocoons. Since then, we've been using castings and tea, amazed by the worms' consumption and the natural fertilizer they provide. Our goal is to supply Lethbridge with a natural fertilizer and educate the community about worm farming and gardening. We've gained valuable knowledge and are excited to share it!

Why Wombats Worms?

Wombats Worms is more than just a gardening business; we are passionate about sharing our knowledge with the Lethbridge community regarding growing your own food successfully. Worm castings and tea are the keys to a thriving garden, and as a locally owned business, we are dedicated to providing you with the resources and information you need to succeed.

Our Vision for Lethbridge

At Wombats Worms, our biggest aspiration is to empower as many people as possible to grow their own food effectively. We're here to help the Lethbridge community thrive by providing the tools and knowledge necessary to create sustainable gardens.

Bush Bean Test

On July 21st 2025 I started an experiment with Bush Beans.  I planted 3 pots, #1 had 1/3 regular compost, 1/3 worm castings, and 1/3 Pro mix.  #2 had all pro mix, #3 had 1/2 pro mix, 1/2 native soil.  #1 pot sprouted first on the 26th July, #2 on the 29th July, #3 sprouted July 30th.  August 5th the growth rate looked similar in all 3 pots with a little sun damage.   On the 15th applied worm tea to pot #1.  August 27th pot #1 has flowers, pot #2 none, pot #3 some small flower buds forming.
